The second single from upcoming L’Emprise Rayon Vert (duet with AaRON) came out November 4, 2022 and following the very successful A tout jamais . We now know the video for this title was directed by Mister Francois Hanss himself!

We now also know that this is the only collaboration with AaRON on the upcoming album L’Emprise. It is a risky move indeed to release this track as a second title. And although I have not yet heard the other tracks which we know in their majority by Moby and Woodkid, I think I understand why Rayon Vert (Green Ray) shined upon us as a second glimpse into L’Emprise.

Mylene’s presence on the music scene stretched through generations – lucky for us but nevertheless pretty challenging for her as an artist. I know, some of you resent the parallel with another music icon sprouted from the 80s and influenced the (international) music scene for decades – Madonna. But regardless my personal opinion about their invisible connection, both of those incredible women in music have managed to keep themselves afloat across the time and changes in music and even in technology which impacted us all. Mylene, of course, is being more localized but unquestionably influential , she has greatly contributed into breaking dogmas, taboos, boundaries and ultimately making women’s empowerment widely accepted. And I can’t thank them enough for that!

What this innuendo to do with Green Ray? …read on dear friends and it will make sense.

This modern electro romantic track born solely from AaRON vision – both music and lyrics (!!) were written by them – Simon Buret (the lyricist) and Olivier Coursier (the composer).

It is almost never happens and at least since 1988 that Mylene didn’t write the lyrics for her song. A few exceptions are only covers she did. So…this is a mystery for sure…How come Mylene has decided to take on something she didn’t write. And even more mind boggling – why she decided to release it as a second peek into the long anticipated and extra important L’Emprise which is driving NEVERMORE 2023?

I wish I’d had a crystal ball to give you reliable answers. As Mylene’s fans, we somewhat used to the “…”

I think releasing Rayon Vert after the A tout jamais creates an impression of the album as multidimensional, with a wide range of musical styles. Rayon Vert is probably more appealing to the younger audience who is not looking to buy another Ansi soit je… and even another Monkey Me. The times have changed as I noted earlier. The uniformity that Mylene despises so much doesn’t sell records (nostalgically speaking). It’s a digital era, the future is kicking the doors out as we speak. And what does Mylene do? Well, she does what she always done so well – she adopts to the new times. She finds a way to collaborate with talented artists who set the trend and who are the aces in the area of expertise.

I would not be surprised if AaRON approached Mylene with this piece and she agreed to include it into her new album. Wouldn’t you be tempted? It is somewhat Interstellaires in its feel and has a flair or nostalgic romanticism that suits Mylene like JPG outfit. 🙂

The poll shows that majority of you love the song. Only about 20% either don’t like it or confused by it. And it is a pretty good stats I think! A little controversy never hurt anyone especially Mylene. A tout jamais of course was such a huge hit that sustaining the same level is not easy.

I personally like it. Its dreamy, it not only echoes each other voices in the duet with “Rien rien rien…” but also beloved Mylene’s topics – our mortality, our fears and pains, and even disappointments from our parents… I swear the text could have been written by Mylene herself. It has however inspiring message “Tout t’appartient, tu es vivant” (“Everything belongs to you, you are alive”) and it is an impowering touch for an album which title could be translated as Power (L’Emprise). It is a beautiful piece. It creates an atmosphere. I found it to be very satisfying. I pride Mylene for being open to new things. Bravo!

ESOTERIC MYLENE

Rayon Vert’s video delivers a highly cryptic message wrapped in elegance itself. Many of us, seduced by the clip’s aesthetics and Mylène’s beauty, will probably look no further. The video is a sheer perfection. And yet, it is filled with embedded meanings.

Let’s start with the title – Rayon Vert (Green Ray) “L’heure divine qui s’installe” (“The divine hour that settles”)

In the nature, the green ray / green flash is a phenomenon that occurs at sunset and sunrise when conditions are favorable, and results when two optical phenomena combine: a mirage and the dispersion of sunlight. As the sun dips below the horizon the light is being dispersed through the earth’s atmosphere like a prism.

In the metaphysics, The fifth divine ray is the Green Ray of Healing, Science and Truth.  It radiates balance, abundance, and harmony. 

This ray has an emerald green color with golden influences.  It is associated with the Heart Chakra and vision, as Heart chakra energies support the abilities of imagination and clairvoyance that we can visualize and manifest truth and healing with.  Heart chakra energies stimulate our discerning perception, investigative and inquiring mind, imagination to create solutions, and use of scientific principles.  Gaia, the intelligence of Earth, also radiates the Green ray for growth, and in her continued mission to find balance and harmony with her residents.  By connecting to Earth intelligence, you can move into balance and harmony with the Earth.  It is believed as it is communicated to us through the extra dimensional beings – we are making a shift toward the 5th dimension which can only be entered by activating the 4th chakra – Heart energy center associated with a green light .

Each of the three kingdoms – Human, Angelic and Nature – have masters that direct the use of the Green Ray.  You can connect with any of them in meditation to direct the use of the Green Ray in your life.

Archangel Raphael, also known as the ‘Mystic Illuminator’, is a healer for humans and animals alike works with the Green Ray. The love energy from the heart is potent healing energy.

Love is an active giving (a masculine energy) and passive receiving (a feminine energy). Together they bring balance and healing. Throughout the whole video we see a man and a woman are being present with each other as equals, being connected on a deep level with no superficial seductions, power games or other primitive expressions of their profound communion. They are together facing each other, being with each other, completing each other like a yin-yang symbol as their journey continues. Even white chairs and black clothing they both wearing bring this symbolism forward. They are in the process. They might appear inactive and just waiting to approach the new planet they are aiming towards. The new planet might be an allegory for the new World we are in the process of creating.

The truth of what is important to your soul is found in the HEART. It is often masked by what society, your family and friends, or your country suggest as your truth. Only you can clear through the illusory answers to discover what is authentically yours – what your soul essence is about, what is of value to you that your missions through your lifetimes have been based on. The ‘Great Pause’ during this pandemic offered us all the still time to discover this truth. Perhaps this is what the inactive man and a woman in this video hint at?

The Green Ray is about balance and harmony. Earth resonates the Green Ray. Gaia nurtures growth, provides vital life energy like a nurturing mother, and continually strives for balance. Humans are made of Earth, and so as you move towards being your Higher Self, you move into balance and inner harmony. You then also move into harmony with the Earth, and this is fundamental in contributing to the well-being of the planet. As all grow to love and respect themselves, they will love and respect the Earth, and change their destructive ways into harmonious and mutually beneficial choices. The New Earth will then be created – one of love, peace, harmony, beauty, and grace. Use the love energy within your heart to nurture and manifest the vision of the New Earth.

The divine connection is also mentioned in this video by recalling a powerful image created by Michelangelo for the Sistine Chapel – the creation of Adam. Perhaps it is the creation of a new, more harmonious human being, this time not by an external force (“God”) but rather by the discovery of our own power based on mutual love and understanding – two human hands reaching out to each other and creating a green light of healing.

But this is where it gets even more interesting. What is God? Why at the end of the journey (video) we see alien creatures resembling electric stingrays (!!!) are making contact with us (humans). If you are willing to follow through with this message, you will ask yourself the same question many of us are asking today: what if God and aliens are ultimately the same thing? Is our creation as a human race a product of intergalactic nourishment and interaction? What are we humans? Are we being watched? Are we being involved into the co-creation of ourselves? Many of us also are perplexed by the blue elixir Mylène and Simon got served by Olivier. What does it represent?

At first, I thought it could be an elixir of eternal life by the philosopher’s stone as a representation of the eternal soul (and a bit of a wishful thinking to not die especially while traveling in space). But I never found a reference to a blue color for such an elixir which, alchemically speaking, should be blood red or orange.
And then I got the idea out of the blue 🙂 based on my favorite cocktail – HPNOTIQ.

What an elegant way to remind us again that we are indeed hypnotized and that this hypnotic cocktail was served to us all. And we all drank it as it was intended to manipulate our perception of reality. But it is only when it is no longer ingested by us and when it will be spilled away – we have a chance to see reality as it is.

Let us honor the raven as a messenger of Truth, no matter how daunting it might seem. Will he bring us a good news or otherwise…only time will tell. But what a beautiful allusion to the tour title NEVERMORE and Mylene’s beloved Edgar Allan Poe.
Speaking of Nevermore… I only recently realized that the English word borrowed from Poe’s famous poem, Raven, pronounced in French, sounds like “no-veut-mort” (“not wanting death”)

AaRON

(Artificial Animals Riding On Neverland)

Now let’s talk a little more about this creative couple – AaRON. Simon Buret : singer, lyricist and composer and Olivier Coursier : composer and arranger

AaRON (Artificial Animals Riding On Neverland) is a French musical duet, playing electronic pop, who sings in French and English. Their first tour of Europe was carried out in 2007 and was very successful.

But before that the big break happened in 2006 when one of their songs was included as a soundtrack for the of the movie Je vais bien, ne t’en fais pas featured two songs by AaRON :

U-Turn (Lili) (the song has been integrated in the movie as a song written by a character for his sister ; the character of the sister has then been renamed in “Lili” to match the song). This song made the band very well known nationally. And the other song – Mister K.

On the first AaRON album, they covered the song Strange Fruit, a song which was made famous by Billie Holiday. The version they perform on the album is drawn largely from Nina Simone‘s rendition on her 1965 album Pastel Blues.

With time however, the musical style has changed from simple acoustic and sensitive to more Indi electro pop – like Rayon Vert.

During one of the interviews Oliver said: At the age of 6 I touched a piano for the first time, it was a revelation for me, I discovered that I could create emotions, landscapes with an instrument and that’s what still interests me today.
Then, I did a lot of skateboarding in the early ’90s, it opened me up to a unique culture which mixes art, music, videos and a different way of looking at things. Then, I became a graphic designer but never stopped music until we created AaRON.

Simon : I am originally from Paris, my mom is French, my dad is American. I come from a creative environment, I went to art school in Paris, started cinema quite early. I also played the violin for 10 years, and then I met Olivier. My plan was first to be a painter, a more silent life, surprisingly.

How does your creative process work between you two?

Olivier: There are no rules between us. This can start from a piece I send to Simon that will inspire him for lyrics, or sometimes, we can start from the text and build the title step by step together, as a sculpture.

Simon: Yes, it really depends, we like to go to the unknown. For example, For The Flame, Olivier sent me a sound sample he was working on, and I started to work on the lyrics and the melody. For other songs like Odyssee, we first found a rhythm together and I got very inspired, wrote the lyrics when I was in Greece, and we finally built the instrumental from that text.

Who would you dream of collaborating with? Maybe a guest on an album or a clip?

Olivier: Bjork as a guest and Willem Dafoe for a clip!

Simon: It depends on the project, but I love collabs. We just shot the new clip yesterday for Odyssee, we cannot say too much about it, but it was interesting to collaborate and create with other people on set.
