Get ready for a whirlwind of nostalgia and beats with the album title “RemiXXL,” a clever tip of the hat not only to Mylène’s smash hit “XXL” but also to her monumental 40 (XL) years in the music biz, a milestone we’re all celebrating this year.

This isn’t Mylène’s first rodeo with remix albums, though. Flashback to November 23, 1992, when “Dance Remixes” hit the scene. This was a game-changer, marking the first compilation of Mylène’s career. But instead of a typical greatest hits, she opted for a remix bonanza featuring tunes from 1986 to 1992, peppered with three unheard remixes. Mylène was ahead of her time with this move—while remix albums were the rage in Anglo-Saxon territories, they were a rare gem in France (shoutout to Rita Mitsouko’s “Re – Remixes” in 1990). With “Que mon coeur lâche” leading the charge, “Dance Remixes” danced its way to double gold certification with over 200,000 copies sold in France.

Fast forward to 2003, and we got “RemixeS,” the second remix album with a twist. This time, it featured eleven fresh remixes of Mylène’s hits, crafted by globally acclaimed remixers. Released on December 2, 2003, “RemixeS” smashed the charts, selling over 100,000 copies in France and snagging a gold certification. Hits like “Sans contrefaçon (JCA Remix),” “Je t’aime mélancolie (Félix Da Housecat Remix),” and “L’Instant X (The Key Mix by One-T)” not only ruled the radio waves but also became club favorites.
