JE TE DIS TOUT

“Je te dis tout” is a song by Mylène Farmer. This ballad was written by Farmer with music composed by Laurent Boutonnat. It was the second single from her ninth studio album Monkey Me (2012) and was released digitally on 28 January 2013 and physically on 4 March 2013.

A text difficult to interpret in which it is difficult to define who Mylène is addressing: a child? a parent ? Perhaps, it is a greatest love story of all?

The music video was directed by François Hanss who already worked on many Mylene’s videos to name a few: Je te rends ton amour, innamoramento, Redonne-moi

On 24 January 2013, it was said that “Je te dis tout” would be the second single from the Monkey Me album. A one-minute shortened version of the song was sent to radios in a promotional CD displaying a big red “M” in the center of the cover. The song was available on digital platforms on 28 January 2013. On 20 April 2013, 1,000 units of a picture disc CD were available for sale (although units numbered over 1,000 were sold) in 170 independent record stores throughout France.

Alongside “Quand“, “Je te dis tout” is one of the two ballads on the album. The song deals with the absolute love; Farmer, the writer, is very explicit in the lyrics that sound like a declaration of love as she had rarely sung in the past. But of course it is Mylene and all the love declaration turns into the visual of the horse in the video. Take it or leave it! 😊

On the personal note, I hope we all and especially Mylene has found this kind of love in this life which she describes so passionately and poetically. I hope you got this someone in your life who accepts you unconditionally and lovingly for everything you are, someone who never judges, never misunderstands and someone you feel so close to, it feels like they are of the same DNA. Like in the Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling: “We be of one blood, ye and I”.

The horse that we see next to Mylène in the video I tell you everything is called Baturo. He is the protégé of Katerina Ratnur, a horsewoman who works for Mario Luraschi. It is on the blog of an equestrian journalist (Antoinette Delylle) that I have discovered this information, with a small presentation of Baturo: “With him, I was spoiled, recognizes Katerina Ratnur.

He gave me everything. He is always up for it! “At six years old, this purebred Spanish bay can” read and write. “Which means in stunt language that he attacks, rears, lies down … he endured the fire 5 centimeters from him, galloped on the highway … A brave, a real war horse. But also, a horse capable of transcending its contained energy and of expressing it with flexibility and elegance. He dances to the beat. He is simply sublime! “

For the shooting of the clip “JE TE DIS TOUT”, Mylène made it a condition that it does not last more than a day. The choice of the place is not trivial: Mylène is a friend of the administrator of the Abbey of Chaalis, where the ponds of the video are located, and it is a little further on this same area that had been shot the clip “Innamoramento” in 2000.

Directed by François Hanss on 14 January 2013, the music video was officially revealed on 29 January 2013 on a website named jetedistout.com (no longer active), and the Internet users had to share the link to see an image from the video, then to unlock the full video. The video shows the singer, first alone in a boat on a foggy lake and then with a horse she tries to tame; she alternatively can be seen walking in a forest and whispering in the horse’s ear. Many features recall some of Farmer’s 1980s and 1990s videos, particularly the ones for the singles “Plus grandir” in 1985, “Libertine” in 1986, “Tristana” in 1987, “Ainsi soit je…“, “Pourvu qu’elles soient douces” in 1988, “Allan” and “À quoi je sers…” in 1989, “Je te rends ton amour” in 1999 and “Innamoramento” in 2000, so that Laure Costey of Gala considered that “visually, one would think this is a come back to the singer’s past”.

The video generally received positive reviews. Journalist Hugues Royer of Voici stated: “With elegance and finesse, Mylène Farmer revisits her own legend, multiplying winks to her repertoire”; he deemed the images “sublime” and the atmosphere “haunting and melancholy”, despite a “simple, even uncluttered” screenplay, and the love story with the horse an “original” and “bold” metaphor to illustrate the theme of the song.

Similarly, Julie Delafontaine of 20 minutes was surprised by the fact that Farmer “declares her love to a horse”.According to Émilie Perez of People Plurielles, the video displays a “very poetic atmosphere”.

Eliane da Costa of Closer magazine said that Farmer “surprises her fans with a video far from the disturbing world of the leading single “À l’ombre“”, and that she appears “tender, moving”, adding, “François Hanss gives us a very aesthetic video.” To Kevin Boucher of PureMédias, the music video is both “moving and melancholy”.Jean-Frédéric Tronche of Le Nouvel Observateur deemed the video displays “a typical atmosphere” of the singer’s style.

Thomas Montet of Pure People said the video is “unpretentious, poetic and metaphorical”. A review on greatsong.net deemed that “although the video is poetic and aesthetically pleasing, it makes some fans nostalgic of Mylène’s old clips, real short films.”More critical, Fiona Ipert of Le Figaro considered that “despite a promising title, “Je te dis tout”, [there is] nothing new in the poetic and Gothic universe of the redhead singer”. Oh well…we always have to have somebody disapproving, it seems.

“Laurent Boutonnat finds a little inspiration on this ballad. Suddenly, Mylène finds itself invigorated and throws us one of the most beautiful texts of the album.” And on your sweater, I would embroider M so that our blood mixes with the wind. My DNA … “A potential single.” (evous.fr – xx / 12/2012)

“Our favorites from the Monkey Me are, the dance song Tu ne le dit pas and the ballad Je te dire tout.” (“Party” (Poland) – 12/21/2012)

On 26 January 2013, Farmer performed “Je te dis tout” on the NRJ Music Awards show at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, broadcast on TF1.

On 2 February 2013, “Je te dis tout” debuted at number 33 on the Belgian (Wallonia) Ultratip Chart, and eventually climbed to number 4 in the sixth week. Then, on the chart edition of 16 March 2013, it entered the Ultratop 40 at number 28. In France, it entered the chart at number 59 on 25 February 2013, then reached a peak of number three, selling 7,200 units that week. The next week, the single dropped to number 45.

TIMELESS 2013

Mylène performs JE TE DIS TOUT on all the dates of the 2013 Timeless concerts from September 7 to December 6, 2013 in a piano-voice version accompanied by Yvan Cassar. Arrangements for the scene: Laurent Boutonnat

Note that we do not find JE TE DIS TOUT on the live album Timeless 2013 released in December 2013, but the song is on the other hand very present on the video Timeless 2013 The Film proposed to the cinema then on DVD & Blu-ray in 2014.

it is well known by now what a special bond Mylene has with horses. Since childhood she has spent a lot of times with horses, took riding lessons and then certified as an instructor. She has shown this talent in many videos but it became legendary in LiberTine and Pourvu qu’elles soient douces

Silencieux
Merveilleux
Dans ce soir mouvant
J'écoute le vent
Héritière
Passagère
De mes jours maudits
Ça je le suis
Mon amour
Je te dis tout
Tu peuples ma vie
À l'infini
Abuse le sort
Frappe à ma porte
Pose une main
Sur mon front
Sur mes seins
Si d'aventure
Je quittais terre
Tu es mon sang
Mon double aimant
Mon ADN
Et sur ton pull
J'ai broderais M
Pour que nos sangs
Se mêlent au vent
Mon ADN
Dénudée
Enserrée
Dans ce jeu sanglant
Je dis tout au vent
Aussi calme
Qu'un nuage
Je suis qui pardonne au temps
Aux absents
Mon amour
Je te dis tout
Tu peuples ma vie
À l'infini
Abuse du sort
Frappe à ma porte
Pose une main
Sur mon front
Sur mes seins
Si d'aventure
Je quittais terre
Tu es mon sang
Mon double aimant
Mon ADN
Et sur ton pull
J'ai broderais M
Pour que nos sangs
Se mêlent au vent
Mon ADN
Si d'aventure
Je quittais terre
Tu es mon sang
Mon double aimant
Mon ADN
Et sur ton pull
J'ai broderais M
Pour que nos sangs
Se mêlent au vent
Mon ADN
Si d'aventure
Je quittais terre
Tu es mon sang
Mon double aimant
Mon ADN
Et sur ton pull
J'ai broderais M
Pour que nos sangs
Se mêlent au vent
Mon ADN
Silent
Wonderful
In this moving evening
I listen to the wind

Passenger heiress
Of my cursed days
That I am
My love
I tell you everything
You people my life
To infinity
Abuse the spell
Knock on my door
Put a hand
on my forehead
On my breasts
If by any
chance I left earth
You are my blood
My double magnet
My DNA
And on your sweater
I would embroider M
So that our bloods
Mingle with the wind
My DNA
Naked
Enclosed
In this bloody game
I say everything to the wind
As calm As
a cloud
I am who forgives time
To those who are absent
My love
I tell you everything
You people my life
To infinity
Abuse of fate
Knock on my door
Put a hand
on my forehead
On my breasts
If by any
chance I left earth
You are my blood
My double magnet
My DNA
And on your sweater
I would embroider M
So that our bloods
Mingle with the wind
My DNA
If by any
chance I left earth
You are my blood
My double magnet
My DNA
And on your sweater
I would embroider M
So that our bloods
Mingle with the wind
My DNA
If by any
chance I left earth
You are my blood
My double magnet
My DNA
And on your sweater
I would embroider M
So that our bloods
Mingle with the wind
My DNA
