C’EST PAS MOI

C’est pas moi is a song is a song # 4 from Mylène Farmer’s tenth studio album Interstellaires released on 6 November 2015.

It is the third and last single extracted.

Thanks to https://www.innamoramento.net/mylene-farmer/concours-creations/1 for the images created for the single cover by the site contestants. I have shared them throughout this page.

The text of C’est pas moi was written by Mylène Farmer. The music was composed by Martin Kierszenbaum and Mylène Farmer.

Probable influence of Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche. When Mylène sings: “A yes / A no / A straight line”, the philosopher wrote in 1888 in Le twilight of the idols: “Formula of my happiness: a” yes “, a” no “, a straight line, a goal. ..”First off, Bravo Mylene for studding such a serious philosopher as Nietzsche. Secondly, if you are not so sure what this statement really means, here is a synopsis.

Happiness can only be achieved by knowing where you are going, having a direction set, because that is the only way you will ever be able to objectively improve your life. If you’re going in a circle rather than a straight line, it won’t matter which point you’re at or which direction you move, you’ll never get anywhere and no point on the circle is going to be “better” than any other one.

The direction lies in us, not in the outside world. We can claim to live “better” – that is: more comfortably – than people did a thousand years ago, but can we claim to be better people? What was that progress worth? Only by bettering ourselves can progress ever be made, and if we want to design products and technology that has any meaning, those things must support and further the goal of helping us move towards the good life, not merely a more comfortable or a more entertaining life.

And more so only by being truly aware of what you ARE (deep inside) and what you are NOT – you can move toward achieving your happiness (even if it goes against the common views on it). I think Mylene understood it very well – thus the title of the song.

Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche (15 October 1844 – 25 August 1900) was a German philosopher, cultural critic, composer, poet, writer, and philologist whose work has exerted a profound influence on modern intellectual history. He began his career as a classical philologist before turning to philosophy.

He became the youngest person ever to hold the Chair of Classical Philology at the University of Basel in 1869 at the age of 24. Nietzsche resigned in 1879 due to health problems that plagued him most of his life; he completed much of his core writing in the following decade. In 1889, at age 44, he suffered a collapse and afterward a complete loss of his mental faculties. Less than a half of a century left before a rise of the Third Reich and Hitler’s “hard power” when Nietzsche wrote his prophetic work. Sadly, it ended up being the very much needed philosophical basis for Hitler to do his deeds. No wonder Nietzsche lost his mind. Perhaps, being a genius he knew a little bit too much…

Michel Onfay

It should be noted that Michel Onfay uses this formula in his book Cosmos in 2015. Mylène and Michel Onfray collaborated on the philosophical ocnte The Polar Star published on November 12, 2015.

A music of which Martin Kiersenbaum seems particularly proud since on February 21, 2016 he shared this message on his Facebook page: “Listening back to” C’est pas moi “by #MylèneFarmer from her album #Interstellaires on #AppleMusic. Some of my favorite guitar parts that I’ve ever played on a record #CleanGuitarJams “

June 14, 2016: Sending of the single to the radios. The promo cover is an unpublished drawing by Mylène using the character of Lisa.

June 14, 2016: Polydor announces this new single on twitter in an original way with the posting on Deezer of a playlist created by Mylène and revealing her musical universe.

June 30, 2016: A radio edit version of 3’18 therefore cut by 25 seconds compared to the album version is sent to the radio stations.

No physical promotional or commercial support known for the single C’est pas moi.

C’est pas moi becomes Mylène’s fourth single to receive no clip. The previous three are: On est tous des imbéciles (1985), L’histoire d’une fée, c’est… (2001) and Sextonik (2009),

“This fourth track is perhaps one of the best surprises of the album. On a text addressing the refusal of conformism, lukewarmness and boredom ( ” Walking his entire life at… / Côté de soi / Tant souls get confused / A yes / A no / A straight line (…) “),  Mylène tries her hand at… funk tones! The bassline, relatively insane, will make more than one dance, as did – come on, let’s dare the comparison – the  Michael Jackson Thriller  . ” (gala.fr – 11/04/2015)

“Mylène Farmer goes straight to the point, adopts a more direct style and abandons poetry and strong melodies signed Laurent Boutonnat. The anecdotal Voie Lactée or the hopping ritornello with funk accents, effective, but with equally easy rhymes (caricatural), C’est pas moi. Sign that the singer still knows how to surprise without causing an earthquake either.” (Pure Charts – 06/11/2015)

“The non-fan: A song in which we learn that Mylène is “like a pencil without lead: a piece of wood “. Very well. And also that life without sex and without danger is worth nothing to her. Not the scoop of the century: by dint of proclaiming loud and clear “I, I am libertine, I am a whore”, the message has passed. Otherwise, musically, a little 80’s tune, soaring phrases that drag themselves Desireless way in Voyage Voyage.

The fan: It’s one of my favorite tracks from the album, with its little funk side. The comparison with Desireless seems far-fetched to me. On the other hand, the claimed anti-conformism is indeed a constant in the farmerian universe.

“In this world which has neither tail nor head, I do what I want,” she sang already at the time of Sans Contrefaçon. A few years later, in I love you, melancholy, she asserted: “A born savage is well worth esteeming, after all she often makes a naughty deal with the ‘too well’ cultivated. And Bam! “Et toc!” (20minutes.fr – 11/06/2015)

“It works pretty well on C’est pas moi, the funky VoiE Lactée and City of Love, the piano / voice ballad un jour ou l’autre or Love song. ” (Télé Moustique – 06/11/2015)

“It’s not me, she sings on this album. The music is funk, we’re not used to it. But it sounds so good, so sexy. ” (La Derniere Heure – 11/06/2015)

“A mix of instant hits Love Song, Pas d’Access , City Of Love sometimes slightly funk, dance songs It’s not me and tearful moment, un jour ou l’autre because of this particularly crystalline voice.” (Les Echos – 06/11/2015)

“Special mention also to C’est pas moi ,a good funk anthem”. (infoconcert.com- 06/11/2015)

“A mix of instant hits Love Song, No Access, City Of Love sometimes slightly funk, dancing songs C’est pas moi and tear moment, Un Jour ou l’ another because of this particularly crystalline voice. Mylène Farmer is radiant in her new attire. It is not tomorrow that we will forget her. ” (lesechos.fr – 11/06/2015) “For the rhythms,or the intriguing No Access , the only real has-been oddity of the album. ” (Le Matin Dimanche – 11/15/2015)

“Among its eleven tracks, more peaceful than ever, we find something to dance ( It’s not me , No access …) […] ” ( Version Femina – 11/22/2015)

Comme un crayon sans mine
Un bout de bois
Qui demande l'asile
Un peu plus de toi toi toi

Indiscible famine
Manque de toi
Hum Hum
J'ose le songe est digne
Déposer des baisers
Là ou là

Ainsi la ritournelle
La vie sans son sans sel
Pas là
Pas dans la mienne
C'est pas moi

Danser sur une grève
La vie sans pont, sans sève
Pas là
Pas dans la mienne
Pas comme ça

Tous les sanglants du ciel
Eclairez-moi !
La vie, mais que vaut-elle
Sans danger sans sexe
Et sans choix

Marcher sa vie entière à
Côté de soi
Tant d'âmes se méprennent
Un oui
Un non
Une ligne droite

Ainsi la ritournelle
La vie sans son sans sel
Pas là
Pas dans la mienne
C'est pas moi

Danser sur une grève
La vie sans pont, sans sève
Pas là
Pas dans la mienne
Pas comme ça

Ainsi la ritournelle
La vie sans son sans sel
Pas là
Pas dans la mienne
C'est pas moi

Danser sur une grève
La vie sans pont, sans sève
Pas là
Pas dans la mienne
Pas comme ça

Ainsi la ritournelle
La vie sans son sans sel
Pas là
Pas dans la mienne
C'est pas moi

Danser sur une grève
La vie sans pont, sans sève
Pas là
Pas dans la mienne
Pas comme ça

Like a pencil without lead
A piece of wood
That asks for asylum
A little more of you you you

Unstoppable starvation
Lack of you
Hum Hum
I dare the dream is worthy
To lay kisses
There or there

Thus the ritornello
Life without sound without salt
Not there
Not in mine
It's not me

Dancing on a beach
Life without bridge, without sap
Not there
Not in mine
Not like this

All the bloody ones in the sky
Enlighten me!
Life, but what is it worth
Without danger without sex
And no choice

To walk your whole life
Next to oneself
So many souls misunderstand
A yes
One no
A straight line

Thus the ritornello
Life without sound without salt
Not there
Not in mine
It's not me

Dancing on a beach
Life without bridge, without sap
Not there
Not in mine
Not like that

Thus the ritornello
Life without sound without salt
Not there
Not in mine
It is not me

Dancing on a beach
Life without bridge, without sap
Not there
Not in mine
Not like that

Thus the ritornello
Life without sound without salt
Not there
Not in mine
It's not me

Dancing on a beach
Life without bridge, without sap
Not there
Not in mine
Not like this
