PAS D’ACCESS

Pas d’access (No access) is a song # 7 from the album Interstellaires released on 6 November 2015. The song is not the strongest from the album but surprisingly 10% of you picked this song as your favorite from the album. I didn’t expect that!

Lyrics of Mylène Farmer. Music composed by Martin Kierszenbaum and Mylène Farmer.
Programming, drums, percussions and keyboards: Martin Kierszenbaum.

Mylene has been influenced by Alan Parker’s film, Birdy. I haven’t personally seen the film yet. If you have, please let us know in the comments.

Birdy is a film directed by Alan Parker in 1984 and released in France on May 22, 1985. Synopsis: Birdy and Al, two inseparable friends, have returned from Vietnam cruelly marked. Al is ready to do anything to save Birdy who is chasing a crazy dream …: to fly like a bird! The film won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival in 1985. That is a nice connection once more to the today’s Mylene 😊

Mylène had quoted this film during an interview in 1989: “I saw Birdy recently and I think it could be the character of Birdy, there you go, who wants to fly and who can’t. ” (M6 – 03/22/1989)

In the lyrics, she writes:

Là, je vole
M'affole
Moi faucon
Je suis birdy

There I fly
I panic
I falcon
I am birdy

Note that the soundtrack of the film Birdy is by Peter Gabriel, musician Mylène has often mentioned among her favorites, especially in the 80s. And, my God, how can we disagree! I think I can talk about Peter Gabriel for hours and weeks to come but something tells me I should not as it is not the chapter dedicated to him…Although I am here if he asks 😊

In addition to composing new pieces for the soundtrack, Gabriel also used instrumental themes and sections from earlier works to form the basis of some tracks. There were, however, no songs with lyrics on the album

Martin Kierszenbaum indicated on his Facebook page that No Access is the first song he composed with Mylène.

Mylene actually mentions Russian northern territories Kamtchatka  Or Siberia…and I wonder?.. Is its snow and cold nostalgia or a tribute to Gulag?

It is also a new age where we are all a part of the world wide web. It is always very frustrating when you can’t connect to it, or your access is denied. It’s a new era of being cut off or isolated from the main hub. And Mylene adopts well to the new technological ways of living

No televised nor live performances of the song No access. However, Interstellaires song was an opening title of the 2019 Interstellaires Show. I have covered already a biggest part of the album and shared all the wonderful images into the previous chapters. I add some 2019 Live photos here just to have something interesting to illustrate this page with 🙂

Reviews on Interstellaires:

“Recourse to the synth, in addition to a bass, on this seventh song, but in a style closer to Daft Punk than to the last compositions of Laurent Boutonnat. Once again, Mylène demonstrates the full extent of her vocal capacities, by oscillating between low register and higher register. If the text is one of the most cryptic of the album, reducing the world to a cage for free-spirits (“There is no access / There is no access / To be free (…) “), it also allows Mylène to use a new imagery (” Raptor / I escape / Find your nest / Cathedral / In Kamtchatka / Or Siberia (…) ” ).

We love, outro, this falcon cry, as perched – in every sense of the word – as it is heartbreaking. New animal totem? ” (gala.fr – 11/04/2015)

“At ease between Hell and Heaven, she takes a little height through Pas Access , a captivating electro track, using the metaphor of the raptor to discuss the notion of freedom.” (Pure Charts – 06/11/2015)

“The non-fan: Did Daft Punk have worked with Mylène Farmer? Little robotic melody in all directions. And at the same time, why not? Otherwise, it lets you listen but it is much less bewitching than Un jour ou l’autre.

The fan: On a strictly semantic level, this title joins Optimistique-moi, Sextonik and Monkey me in the list of “troublesome” headings. No access Who speaks like that apart from the hosts who are refused the box preceding the prime time for their show? More seriously, the melody owes nothing to the French favorite since it was co-composed by Mylène Farmer and Martin Kierszenbaum, who also worked on eight other titles of Interstellaires. Special mention to the rapacious cry which closes the piece. ” (20minutes.fr – 06/11/2015)

“No hit, but harmonious pieces (the sweet Voie Lactée), smooth ( City of love ), where the electro is current fact, and even flirts with the modernity of Daft Punk on a Pas d’access which is perhaps not the easiest track to access, precisely. ” (ait-alire.com – 06/11/2015)

“The hits in power are legion on Interstellaires, we think of the very funky C’est Pas Moi, very electro Pas D’Access ” (aparisiennelife.com – 06/11/2015)

“A mix of instant hits Love Song, Pas d’Access, City Of Love sometimes slightly funk, dancing songs C’est pas moi and tear moment, One Day or the other because of this particularly crystalline voice. Mylène Farmer is radiant in her new attire. It is not tomorrow that we will forget her. ” (lesechos.fr – 06 / 11/2015) “For the rhythms, we’ll have to look for the very successful C’est pas moi or the intriguing Pas d’Access, the only real has-been weirdness on the album.” (Le Matin Dimanche – 11/15/2015)

“Among his eleven songs, more peaceful than ever, we find something to dance (It’s not me, No access ]”. (Femina version – 11/22/2015)

Ballade
Astrale
Pas de ce monde
Sarcophage
Otage
Des jours, des ombres
L'espace
La grâce
De grâce
Délivrez-moi
Il n'y a pas d'access
Il n'y a pas d'access
Pour être libre
Il n'y a pas d'access
De vaines promesses
Pas d'équilibre
Il n'y a pas d'access
Il n'y a pas d'access
Pour être libre
Rapace
Je m'évade
Trouver son nid
Cathédrale
Au Kamtchatka
Ou Sibérie
Décolle
Je m'envole
Plus ici
Je m'asphyxie
Il n'y a pas d'access
Il n'y a pas d'access
Pour être libre
Il n'y a pas d'access
De vaines promesses
Pas d'équilibre
Obscures
Dérives
Nuits d'insomnies
Dissonnance
Errance
Lente agonie
Là, je vole
M'affole
Moi faucon
Je suis birdy
Il n'y a pas d'access
Il n'y a pas d'access
Pour être libre
Il n'y a pas d'access
De vaines promesses
Pas d'équilibre

Of grace
Deliver me
There is no access
There is no access
To be free
There is no access
Of empty promises
No balance
There is no access
There is no access
To be free
Rapacious
I escape
To find its nest
Cathedral
In Kamchatka
Or Siberia
Take off
I fly away
No more here
I asphyxiate myself
There is no access
There is no access
To be free
There is no access
Of vain promises
No balance
Obscure
Drifting
Nights of insomnia
Dissociation
Wandering
Slow agony
There I fly
I panic
I hawk
I am birdy
There is no access
There is no access
To be free
There is no access
Of empty promises
No balance
There is no access
There is no access
To be free
I am birdy
I'm birdy
I'm birdy

There's no access
There's no access
There's no access
There's no access
There is no access
