PAS D’ACCESS

Pas d’access (No access) is a song # 7 from the album Interstellaires released on 6 November 2015. The song is not the strongest from the album but surprisingly 10% of you picked this song as your favorite from the album. I didn’t expect that!

Mylene has been influenced by Alan Parker’s film, Birdy. I haven’t personally seen the film yet. If you have, please let us know in the comments.

Birdy is a film directed by Alan Parker in 1984 and released in France on May 22, 1985. Synopsis: Birdy and Al, two inseparable friends, have returned from Vietnam cruelly marked. Al is ready to do anything to save Birdy who is chasing a crazy dream …: to fly like a bird! The film won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival in 1985. That is a nice connection once more to the today’s Mylene 😊

Mylène had quoted this film during an interview in 1989: “I saw Birdy recently and I think it could be the character of Birdy, there you go, who wants to fly and who can’t. ” (M6 – 03/22/1989)

In the lyrics, she writes:

Note that the soundtrack of the film Birdy is by Peter Gabriel, musician Mylène has often mentioned among her favorites, especially in the 80s. And, my God, how can we disagree! I think I can talk about Peter Gabriel for hours and weeks to come but something tells me I should not as it is not the chapter dedicated to him…Although I am here if he asks 😊

In addition to composing new pieces for the soundtrack, Gabriel also used instrumental themes and sections from earlier works to form the basis of some tracks. There were, however, no songs with lyrics on the album

Martin Kierszenbaum indicated on his Facebook page that No Access is the first song he composed with Mylène.

Mylene actually mentions Russian northern territories Kamtchatka  Or Siberia…and I wonder?.. Is its snow and cold nostalgia or a tribute to Gulag?

It is also a new age where we are all a part of the world wide web. It is always very frustrating when you can’t connect to it, or your access is denied. It’s a new era of being cut off or isolated from the main hub. And Mylene adopts well to the new technological ways of living

No televised nor live performances of the song No access. However, Interstellaires song was an opening title of the 2019 Interstellaires Show. I have covered already a biggest part of the album and shared all the wonderful images into the previous chapters.
