Mylène a toujours eu une passion pour les animaux et particulièrement pour les singes. Enfant, elle se voyait même devenir vétérinaire. Plus tard, devenue chanteuse, sa passion pour les animaux ne la quitte pas. En 1985, avec l’argent qu’elle a gagné avec la chanson « Maman a tort ». Mylène s’offre un petit singe capucin beige avec une houppette sur la tête, qu’elle baptise E.T.

Sur une musique de Laurent Boutonnat, Mylène écrit un texte en pensant au côté facétieux et enjoué qu’avait toujours E.T. et qu’elle aimerait avoir, elle aussi, plus souvent. « Monkey me » paraît en troisième extrait de l’album, d’abord en digital le 30 août 2013 puis le 7 octobre, en CD maxi et Maxi vinyle.

Alors laissez-moi vous conter comment : Quelques mois auparavant, la maison de disques de la chanteuse avait annoncé sur internet l’organisation originale d’un concours pour la création de la pochette de ce single. Les participants devaient proposer des idées de pochettes et les poster sur Twitter ou Instagram et Mylene, directement, choisirait sa préférée pour Illustrer son CD single.

Son choix s’est finalement porté sur la création de Richard Vanloot qui, en s’inspirant du visuel de l’album et de l’affiche de la tournée « Timeless 2013 », a repris la même pose que mylene en la remplaçant simplement par un singe qui se cache l’œil. Une petite pensée pour ce petit singe qui a probablement eu la meilleure vie qu’un singe puisse avoir, au côté de la belle rouquine…bonne soirée à vous les z’amis
