Mylène Farmer NEVERMORE Story 1

Dear MF fans
My heart has expanded over the last few days to see our Mylène on stage once again. As well as counting down the days until June 17, when I’ll finally see her in person after three decades of admiration, I’ve gained a lot of respect and inspiration from seeing the NEVEMORE images. I know many of you don’t want to spoil the surprise, and I respect that. That’s why I’m not going to reveal any details other than those already known. Instead, I’m going to share with you my preliminary impressions and feelings on the subject. Those of you who have already seen Mylène live in NEVERMORE, feel free to comment below.

First of all, the stage design and digital art are beautifully done and will not disappoint. The theme is NEVERMORE and there are many nods to Mylène’s previous tours and videos. Keep them in mind when you’re there and see how many you can recognize. She’s always smart and playful when it comes to reminding us of the classics that made her the icon she is today.

Brick by brick, song by song, she has built her own monument as an exceptional figure in French music and French culture in general. Her legacy extends to every continent and almost every country in the world. No other French artist (with the possible exception of Édith Piaf) can say as much.

Secondly, she’s gorgeous! It’s impossible to believe that this woman could be 61 years old. She’s obviously found an elixir of youth or knows the secret of the philosopher’s stone. Either way, I hope she’s immortal and a part of our lives for a long time to come.

The costumes are perfectly suited to Edgar Poe’s era, with a strong influence from the elegance of Libertine. Fashion accentuates Mylène’s gorgeous physique and ultra-feminine yet androgynous glamour. She’s still that twenty-something, tomboyish Libertine, but she’s a beautiful swan immersed in the rosebud she was once known and loved for.

She travels through time preserving and re-acting the original, endearing choreography and even the costumes from the original tours and videos. I love it.

There are, of course, the signature entrances and exits for which she is so well known. Every time she leaves us, our hearts are broken and we’re left wanting more the second she’s gone. There can never be enough of Mylene Farmer. It’s a reality we all have to face.
