Mylène was probably inspired by poem 273 from Emily Dickinson’s collection A soul in incandescence in which we can read the following lines: “And distribute smiles / To the lives which stoop to notice mine / And politely invite him “to write the beginning of the song:” To the lives which come down to see mine / I know / That I will have to take la eave of them.”
I thought this song was so beautiful and so deep even for her first albums. I always loved her ballads as I am sure you all do as well. There is just something about the music, lyrics and Mylene’s angelic delivery that gets straight to your heart making you FEEL so much and so intensely that its almost a haunting ache from within. It is a sadness taken to the highest enlightening level where it meets with the divinity itself. The emotions become the experience and the experience of this creates even more conscious emotions. Full circle of the Enlightenment, isn’t it? 🧡
Thus, the circle is complete, and I find myself inside of it. So comforted, so fulfilled, so at home. I wish to stay there forever. Or at least until the song is over. I personally am guilty of replaying those ballads over and over again. A bit masochistic of me, I admit, but this ache just feels so amazing, can you blame me? How about you all? Arrangements for the stage: Yvan Cassar. Nous souviendrons-nous was sung on all dates (indoor and in stadiums) of the Tour 2009 with the exception of the two concerts in Russia. In fact, she just totally skipped it for the concert in Moscow and St Petersburg. Interesting…
And what a beautiful, sensitive and powerful performance was that! The entire second act was a tear maker at the best of it: “a sauna for the soul”. I would totally lose it. No doubt.
I have no idea how she is able to pull off those songs one after the other. They are so emotionally charged that no wonder she herself is crying. And the grand finale of the act was Ainsi Soit Je…
